Inauguration Day

Yesterday was early dismissal for Logansport Schools.  I called Logan's school and picked him up even earlier.  I wanted to watch the Inauguration of Barack Obama with him.  It was my intention to give Logan a memory, that chances are, will not be forgotten.  Dad took him out of school early and we picked up some burgers and some fries and went home to watch TV.  Lauren was at the church with the youth group and I know that's exactly where she wanted to be.

As we were watching the events unfold on the television, I enjoyed watching Logan as he wiggled around on the couch and was asking hundreds of questions.  The news anchor kept talking about "history in the making" and Logan asked....       "so Dad, I Have a question...how does Christopher Columbus fit into all of this..." Smile It was all I could do to keep from laughing.  The question was so cute and childish, but it made me stop and think..... not about how Columbus fits into the story.... we all know 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue but how my 9 yr old little boy fits into the picture.

Soon after the Inauguration was over we headed back to the office.  When we got there I had a chance to talk with Chelsey & Tiffany, two girls in the youth ministry.  We spoke about the mass of people in Washington and the HUGE expectations for the new leadership.  I want to pause and encourage you to pray for OUR new president and his administration.  God is able to do a great and might work...anyway....  As we sat in my office I encouraged them to believe that the president of the United States of America is not the answer for all the problems in the world.  Neither is the Republican party, the Democratic party, the congress, the military, or the White House.  All the answers to life hardest questions can be answered in the church house......can I hear an AMEN.

The local church is the body of Christ.  Could it be...... that in reality......  little 9 yr old Logan, and those two young ladies that sat in my office yesterday are the real hope for America.  Live your life like YOU are going to be the answer to somebody's prayer today.
